Saint Ignatius’ College is seeking 3rd year pre-service students of Bachelor of Education (Junior Primary or Primary/Middle Years), to join our dynamic and inclusive school community as casual OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) Educators at Saint Ignatius' College Junior School in Norwood. We are seeking applicants to commence immediately and be available for Vacation Care periods.

Based at our Junior School campus, located at Norwood, as an OSHC Educator, you will assist in the implementation of the service’s program and routines, under supervision and as directed and will actively support the provision of quality OSHC that meets the individual and group needs of the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the provision of a safe, healthy and stimulating environment for children, offering individual support and comfort when required.
  • Implement daily routines under supervision and direction and record observations as required.
  • Actively participate in the direct supervision of children in the OSHC Program.
  • Support the service in attaining and maintaining OSHC National Quality Standards.
  • Assist children with personal hygiene where needed.
  • To prepare materials and set up activities as formulated in the weekly program.
  • Make sure all areas are cleaned at the end of each shift.
  • As required attend out of hours meetings, training, programming and service activities.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Possess or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check, and Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care training (RRHAN-EC)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Collaborative approach with staff members, students, and parents.
  • Willingness to obtain Basic Emergency Life Support Training.
  • Patience, flexibility, and the ability to respond to staff and student needs.
  • High levels of confidentiality and proficiency in using information technology.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Knowledge of developmental characteristics of 5- to -12-year old children and experience working in a similar role is desirable.
