2024 Pacific Geospatial Skills Development Program

Spatial Vision Head Office Melbourne - Level 8

An opportunity for an individual from a Pacific Island Country or Territory to advance their geospatial skills and experience with Spatial Vision.



Carried out over 12 weeks, the program provides the selected candidate the opportunity to deliver a geospatial project relating to their area of interest and demonstrate that a specific problem can be solved with geospatial technology.


Commencing with one week in Melbourne, the candidate will work alongside Spatial Vision’s team to select a sustainability or climate-related issue. Then they will develop a project plan to help demonstrate the issue can be solved with geospatial technology.


The final ten weeks will be carried out virtually, where the candidate will have access to industry leading professional mentors, cutting-edge tools and technology to learn spatial skills and deliver the project. On conclusion, the candidate will be invited to present and/or publish their project outcomes.


The program also aims to strengthen the relationship between the Australian private industry and the Pacific Islands region.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the program, the candidate will:

• Develop a deeper understanding of geospatial tools and technology, particularly its application in sustainability and climate areas.

• Knowledge of Spatial Vision projects, tools and products.

• Deepen geospatial analytics skills.

• Develop consulting and project management skills. This will include problem definition, project scoping, presenting and writing.


Program Commitment

• Attendance at Melbourne office for one week (5 working days).

• Identify and deliver relevant project within the 12 week program

• Set aside approximately 5 hours per week to work (virtually) on the project.

• Weekly check-ins

• Publish project outcomes with Spatial Vision in industry media or at industry event.


Eligibility Requirements

• Individual must be able to describe a sustainability or climate-related issue in your home country, and state how the development of spatial skills will help to solve this issue.

• Country of residence must be a Pacific Island Country or Territory (PICT).

• University qualification in spatial science or similar, or demonstrated work experience.

• Proficient in English language skills.

• Current passport with ability.
