Support workers with disability-support experience: explore a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner career at Melior.
If you are support worker, you have likely seen firsthand how much difference the right approach can make for children, young people and adults with a wide range of support needs. You know people beyond their plans. You understand routines, relationships, triggers, strengths and what can help someone feel safe, understood and supported
You know the person, beyond their support plan. You understand their strengths, their routines, and the signs that tell you when something isn't quite right. That knowledge is the foundation of Positive Behaviour Support. You've spent years supporting change day to day. PBS allows you to influence it from the start.
PBS starts from something you already know: behaviour is communication. When someone does not have the words, skills or tools to say what they need, the need shows up another way. PBS is the work of understanding why, changing what is around the person rather than the person, and teaching the skills that meet that need another way.
It is a discipline, not a knack: backed by international research and practised in group homes, schools, workplaces, family homes and the community.
If you have a relevant tertiary qualification, including allied health or teaching, register for our information session.
